Combination Secretary and President's Comments for the month.

Well last month I said there may not be a newsletter this month but will put out a short one to let you know how things are going.  First I called the Bannister Mall people and must say that was different as after a few tries finally got someone to speak to and they said I guess you can plan on meeting here in September.  So that is what we will do and I had the treasurer send in a check to them so hopefully we will have a room.

Program is not firm as of yet and the next newsletter will have to be out before September 5th as I am leaving town to go to Europe for two weeks to meet relations from my mother's side of the family for the first time

The treasurer informs me that we have 27 paid up members for 2003 year so if anyone else wishes to join they may send in there dues to the treasurer, whose address is listed at end of this newsletter.

Don't know how many of you get the Family Tree magazine but the October 2002 issue had an article on the top 10 public libraries to research your roots and guess what one of them was our own Mid-continent public library in Independence.  It may not have the most of things but it was up there with other libraries across the country.  These libraries included the likes of Allen County, Birmingham, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angles, New York, and the public library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.   If you can find it take a look at the magazine as it gave information on what each one had and their hours of operations.

Will spare you jokes and such this month so again remember no meeting in August.  October we will probably be meeting in Raymore at Foxwood Center.

Will put in that Family Tree Maker has version 10 out now and it looks as if their reports and such will now be able to saved in rtf format.  PAF has 5.2 available for download from their family search site and it is a bit over 9 meg file to download.  Also TMG has announced that version 5 is to be released. They do have a download of TMG 5 available to download but it is a demo type version with many features blanked out.

We had the following individuals volunteer for the program committee.
