  Washington Monument

washington_monument_18xx.gif (536199 bytes)An ancient document recording the contribution of One Dollar by my Great-Great-Grandfather Amos Tucker, Esq. for the erection of the National Washington Monument.  Amos Tucker lived from 1797 to 1855.  Note the  replicas of signatures of former presidents and other reknowned Americans who were apparently living at that time. There's one name I cannot identify. What appears to be G. M. Dabsal.  Anyone know who that's supposed to be?  Except for poor old Millard Fillmore who died in 1874, the others died between 1848 and 1852.  The web site of the National Park Service has an historical essay on the monument.  Enjoy.
